✨ Preserve hope for the future and bring happiness closer!
Hua-Hsuan’s story tells every woman: don’t wait until fertility becomes a challenge to take action!
Check your AMH level (ovarian reserve) early to understand your fertility,
and consider freezing your eggs before 35 to preserve future possibilities.

Love yourself, plan ahead — happiness is actually just within reach!

I think my interaction with Dr. Hsu. He’s very professional. Has a warm personality. He guided me step by step. Went through the fertility preparation process in a very steady and solid way.

Hi everyone, I’m Hua-Hsuan. I used to be a news anchor. After leaving the anchor desk, I’ve been working as a field host, lecturer, and managing social media platforms online. After leaving the anchor job, I took up cycling. Usually I do triathlons, hiking, skiing. Became kind of an outdoor girl. Like an energetic Iron Barbie.

My current work is very different from before. From a fixed-schedule news anchor to a creator managing my own media. Being able to combine work and hobbies—I feel that’s truly a blessing.

I think people shouldn’t be too stubborn. I used to always tell my girlfriends, “I will never have children in this lifetime.” My dream was to one day travel the world, I didn’t want a family or children to tie me down. But after getting married and meeting the right person, I thought, maybe it would be nice to have a child to accompany us.

At that time, I was 41 years old. We tried to conceive naturally, but after more than a year, we still couldn’t have a child. Then we happened to learn about the government subsidies. Starting in 2025, Taipei City offers an additional NT$25,000 for IVF subsidies. And it just so happened I met the right person. So I thought, why not give it a try?

I think the biggest challenge was my age. Later, through testing, I realized that a woman’s ovarian index is not something that can be judged by outward appearance. What surprised me the most was in less than a year, my index dropped below 1. It plummeted like an avalanche. That was the most shocking thing I encountered during IVF. So if you’re preparing for pregnancy, you definitely need to get some tests done.

I first started IVF at a well-known clinic near Taipei 101. At the beginning, during the consultation, the doctor was very confident. He said, “I guarantee you’ll be pregnant in three months.” That sentence really encouraged me, so I thought it should work. But unexpectedly, the first egg retrieval had a high fertilization failure rate. And during the embryo biopsy, everything failed. Both physically and mentally, it didn’t feel good.

After that first failed egg retrieval, we gave ourselves three chances—there were still two more to go. By chance, we met Dr. Hsu. The first time I met Dr. Hsu, he gave me a feeling of being very professional. He was extremely patient in listening to the full process of my previous failed attempt. He gradually adjusted my condition based on my body, with a customized plan.

My interactions with Dr. Hsu showed how professional and warm he is. Step by step, everything followed the plan, a very steady and solid fertility journey, which made both my husband and me feel very reassured. Seeing the two lines on the pregnancy test—it was so emotional.

The best age for fertility is before 35. At my age, the failure rate should be high, so honestly I wasn’t too attached to the outcome. But when I saw it, I felt a mix of joy and surprise. Because I was nearly 45.

I realized it’s really important to understand your own body. It was only during fertility prep that I started going to the OB/GYN more often, and found out my AMH level was so low. In the past, I didn’t really understand my body. So I now believe that knowing your own body is very important.

As for me, I truly trust the Huayu team—the lab, the nurses, the pharmacists, and the doctors. Because the entire medical team, and Dr. Hsu himself, I felt the whole process was something you could really entrust to them with peace of mind.

During the process, almost all the hardship falls on the woman. So if you have a great team supporting you to get checked, and you find out there’s still a chance for egg retrieval, I would recommend freezing your eggs early.

When I started preparing for pregnancy, I felt it was already a bit late for egg retrieval. But fortunately, I had a professional team, and I was lucky, so I had a very healthy baby. If you’re planning for pregnancy, do it early, because time waits for no one.

I recommend everyone to maintain regular exercise aside from work. If you exercise, your metabolism and overall physical condition will be better maintained. You have to maintain your health while you’re still young—that’s something I find very important.

Huayu feels like a family. The medical team will always provide high-quality service in advance to reduce your fear. Throughout the entire process, there was none of that cold or fearful feeling. Instead, it gave me a sense of comfort and trust.

So throughout the whole fertility journey, my body felt at ease, which also helped reduce my anxiety during pregnancy. If you want to do this, do it early. This is something I truly resonate with. You need courage, confidence, and a sense of trust—leave it to a professional team and completely entrust yourself to them.

I did two egg retrievals at Huayu. The doctor recommended that I get PRP injections. PRP means drawing your own blood. Normally it’s used in joints to help repair muscles and ligaments. But I didn’t know PRP could be injected into the ovaries to help stimulate ovulation. After I received PRP, on my second egg retrieval, the lab played a very important role. The survival rate after biopsy testing was much higher.

What impressed me most about Dr. Hsu was that during my first egg retrieval, I had a very bad experience. Because it was more SOP-based—egg retrieval would be scheduled according to the time slot. But Dr. Hsu said, “I see your follicles are growing at different rates.” “So let’s wait two more days for them to mature.” He didn’t say, “the time is set, let’s retrieve right away.” Instead, he adjusted the plan according to your body’s condition.

Because I did PGS biopsy, which I highly recommend for older women, it increases the chance of successful implantation. Because sometimes embryos are not healthy, and if implanted, there’s a higher risk of miscarriage. I think having a healthy baby is very important for parents. Next week, he’ll be six months old. Trust Huayu—it brings good luck in getting pregnant.
