Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) Procedure
Step.1
Ovulation Induction
Menstrual Cycle Day 1–3
Begin ovulation stimulation using injectable or oral medications.
Compliance directly affects egg development results：
1.Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions regarding medication.
2.Drink more than 2000 c.c. of water per day.
Your doctor will decide whether to perform blood tests and/or a transvaginal ultrasound based on your condition that day.
Step.2
Monitoring Follicle Maturation
Menstrual Cycle Day 8–12 (approximately 3 follow-up visits)
Return to the clinic as scheduled by your doctor for bloodwork to observe hormone changes, combined with transvaginal ultrasounds to monitor follicle growth. This allows the doctor to determine the precise timing for the IUI procedure.
Step.3
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Menstrual Cycle Day 13–15
To obtain high-quality sperm, the male partner should avoid smoking, alcohol, infections, and fatigue, and should ideally abstain from ejaculation for 2 days prior. On the day of the procedure, the male partner should collect a semen sample via masturbation in a sterile container. If collecting at home, the sample must be delivered to the clinic within 1 hour. Alternatively, collection can be done at the clinic’s semen collection room.
Semen processing takes approximately 1–2 hours. After processing, the doctor will select the most motile sperm and inject them into the uterus via the vagina. This procedure does not require anesthesia and takes only a few minutes. After lying down for 30 minutes, the patient may return home.
