Ovidrel Injection
Used in assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. Administration of Ovidrel induces final follicular maturation and luteinization of stimulated follicles. Also used for ovulation induction in women with anovulation or infrequent ovulation. Ovidrel promotes ovulation and luteinization of follicles that have grown under stimulation in such women.
- Mild and temporary redness or itching at the injection site.
- Possible symptoms include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain
- Ovarian hyperstimulation symptoms.
Injection Instructions:
STEP 1
Clean hands thoroughly.
STEP 2
Hold the needle upright and gently flick the syringe until air bubbles move to the top.
Slowly push the plunger upward until all air is expelled and a droplet appears at the needle tip.
STEP 3
Disinfect an area within three fingers’ width on either side of the navel in a circular motion from the center outward.
Pinch the skin and inject the needle at a 90-degree angle into the subcutaneous tissue.
Slowly inject the medication, hold for 10 seconds, then remove the needle.
Press the injection site gently with an alcohol swab for 1 minute (do not massage).
STEP 4
Return the used syringe to the medical staff at your next visit.
