After overcoming the struggles and hardships of IVF, I finally have my own baby (Repost from community)
Announcement
My baby was born at the end of August. Although the labor process was tough on me, holding my baby safely and healthily in my arms made everything worth it…
When I got married, I was already considered an older pregnant woman, and I had a plan to have two children, so I had to race against time. My husband and I shared the same goal, but we didn’t expect that the desire to “get pregnant quickly” would become the starting point of our arguments and cold wars. Tracking ovulation, measuring basal body temperature, using ovulation test kits… Even after a tiring day at work, I forced myself to “do homework.” And every month, after all that effort, my period would still come—it was an indescribable disappointment. Our relationship also suffered; I cried in my husband’s arms countless times, blaming myself and my body. As a control freak, I realized there are just some things in life I simply cannot control!
We had never considered using medical assistance before, but after some deep conversations, we changed our mindset. If we really wanted to have a baby, why waste more time? We should take action! Coincidentally, I saw Huayu Fertility Clinic listed in our company’s employee benefits site offering discounted treatment, and even though I hadn’t done any real research yet, I decided to go for a consultation.
I guess I’m quite instinct-driven (and impulsive too), and after just one conversation with Dr. Hsu Ming-I, I decided to go forward with IVF. Fortunately, my AMH level was pretty good, and I wasn’t afraid of injections. Following the doctor’s instructions, everything went smoothly with the egg retrieval. Since I had uterine fibroids—although their position shouldn’t affect implantation—Dr. Xu suggested a hysteroscopy just to be sure, and removed a polyp during egg retrieval to smooth out the implantation surface.
When all three embryos passed PGS testing, Dr. Xu gave me a thumbs-up and said I did great. That encouragement still sticks with me. Originally I thought I could proceed with implantation the very next month, but Dr. Xu carefully let my uterus rest for two months, and waited until the fibroids shrank before starting implantation.
Later on, I had a successful implantation. I followed all the steps—shots, meds, suppositories—and kept believing that I would get pregnant. Seeing the two lines on the pregnancy test stick, I was overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude.
Everyone has different reasons for going down the IVF path and will face different struggles and difficulties. I’m grateful I made a decisive choice last year. That’s why today, I have a healthy baby who fills my days with both joy and challenges.
Sending this blessing to all of you, and wishing everyone on the fertility journey receives good luck soon!
