[Preface] On our fertility journey, we’ve always had a “scientific investigation” mindset (laughs).
At age 36 for me and 48 for my husband, we had no time for repeated trial and error. Our only goal was to “minimize the chance of failure,” and we were determined to have three children. At another clinic, I underwent three egg retrievals, all sent for PGS, accumulating eight normal embryos. With the first transfer of two embryos, we had our first child, but we never expected that all subsequent transfers (including beautiful 4AA embryos and even some untested ones) would fail, and our hopes for a second child began to fade.

Once all PGS-approved embryos from the previous clinic were used up, I was 39 and my husband 51. To save time, we came to Huayu upon a friend’s recommendation and met Dr. Ming-I Hsu. Our goal remained: “minimize the chance of failure.” Dr. Hsu confidently helped us rebuild our strategy. Before retrieval, I had two consecutive PRP treatments, then underwent four egg retrievals. We collected 8–9 eggs, but only a few embryos qualified for PGS (the upside was cost savings). In the end, we had just three normal embryos and one mosaic embryo. In just three years, our embryo abnormality rate had significantly increased — a mental blow — but at least we still had three normal embryos.

I truly do, and so do Dr. Hsu and the Huayu team.
With my uterus and hormones in good condition, plus our experience having a healthy first child from a PGS embryo, the odds of failure were so low that not trying would have been a lifelong regret. Persuaded by Dr. Hsu, we transferred one precious PGS-tested embryo, then happily went on a 3-day vacation with our first child. That’s when our second baby, “Little Bean,” decided to settle in. This pregnancy was smooth — no bleeding, back pain, or anxiety like with my first — allowing me to live normally, drive, and exercise until natural delivery. Shortly after my 41st birthday, Little Bean was born full-term and healthy, and the doctor even joked about looking forward to baby number three.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Hsu and the Huayu team, and we’ll soon be back to pursue our goal of three children.
